The Fold was a public programme that interrogated both theory/practice and audio/visual relationships in contemporary art practice. Centre for Audio Visual Experimentation (CAVE) was initiated by me in 2016 at University of Leeds.

Practice-based PhDs are often denigrated as hinging too much on conceptual thought and writing, yet the University of Leeds has a long history of productive and interdisciplinary research in this area.

Unveiling the School of Fine Art's new building and celebrating 20 years of the Contemporary Artists’ Book Fair, The Fold presented five artists connected to the Fine Art PhD – past and present – each exploring different materialisations of thought as well as the formal qualities of ‘display’ itself.
